Payment and Cancellation Policy

Drop-In Visits and/or Walks: Future blocks of drop-in visits and/or walks are reserved when 50% of the booking fee is received. The remaining 50% is due 48 hours prior to the first visit or the time slots will become available for other clients. At that time, the 50% deposit is non-refundable. Applying the deposit towards a future booking is at the sole discretion of the owner of Just Like Home Pet Sitting. Where no deposit is required, payment for services rendered is due 24 hours after completion.

House Sitting: House sitting dates are guaranteed once payment is made in full or payment arrangements have been made. A full refund will be given with no less than 7 days notice of cancellation prior to the booking start date. A 50% refund will be given with 3 to 6 days notice of cancellation. No refund will be given with less than 3 days notice of cancellation. Applying funds received towards a future booking is at the sole discretion of the owner of JLHPS.

Should the agreed upon pet and/or house sitting services not be performed in the agreed upon manner, or should the sitter fail to show up to perform the services paid for, the client will be due a full or partial refund of monies paid.



Key Pick-up and Drop-off

 Just Like Home Pet Sitting must have a key or code to the home before care begins, or a key may be left in a key lockbox on the property. Should a key need to be picked up at a later date, a $10 gas charge will apply. Keys will be kept on file for future use unless client wishes them returned.  Should a key need to be returned, a $10 gas charge will apply. Keys will not be left in the house after the last visit as we must be able to access the home in case you are delayed and your pet needs additional visits. Keys will not be hidden outside the home, or returned by mail, due to safety and liability concerns. Should keys become unusable, lock malfunction, or a power outage make a code unusable, JLHPS will make every attempt to contact client and emergency contacts, but has authorization to employ the services of a locksmith to gain entry into a client’s home on client’s behalf. Client will be responsible for all expenses incurred and reimburse JLHPS within 24 hours of return.



Flea Policy

 I understand that if fleas are found on my pet(s) during a house-sitting stay, I will be contacted immediately, and with my permission, they will be given Capstar and a bath with Dawn dish soap at an additional expense of $40 per pet. I understand that I will notify JLHPS of any allergy concerns with using Capstar. If I refuse these treatments, or if fleas are discovered during a drop-in visit or walk, JLHPS reserves the right to refuse continuation of care and I will make alternate care arrangements for my pet(s). Fleas can travel on clothes, and JLHPS cannot put other client’s homes and/or pets at risk.



As the client, I understand that pet care services will be provided to my animals in a reliable, trustworthy, and caring manner, but also understand that potential harm could occur to my pet(s) while in the care of Just Like Home Pet Sitting. I agree to release and hold harmless JLHPS from all liability should my pet(s) become injured, except in instances of proven negligence of the sitter.

 JLHPS will not be liable for the injury, disappearance, death, or fines of any pet with unsupervised access to the outdoors, except in instances of proven negligence of the sitter.

 I agree to be responsible for all medical expenses and damages resulting from an injury to the sitter by my pet(s)


 JLHPS will handle my home and property in a responsible manner during the time of employed services, but accepts no responsibility for security of the premises should other individuals have access to the home during the agreed upon time frame of the visit or stay. It is expressly understood that JLHPS shall not be held responsible for any damage to my property caused by my pet(s) during the period in which they are in the sitter’s care, except in instances of proven negligence of the sitter.

 Just Like Home Pet Sitting reserves the right to terminate this contract at any time, at its sole discretion; likewise, the client may terminate this contract at any time.

Emergency Care Policy  (felines and canines)

I grant permission to JLHPS to act on my behalf, and in my pet’s best interest, to seek veterinary care should an emergency arise. I understand that every attempt will be made to get a hold of me and my emergency contact, and if during regular business hours, the veterinary facility(-ies) on file. Should that facility(-ies) be closed or unable to see the pet(s), I understand that my pet(s) will be taken to Overland Park Veterinary Emergency Hospital located at 8301 W 163rd St, Overland Park, phone (913) 361-3800, for emergency care, and that I am responsible for the bill. I understand that JLHPS will do all they can to help my animal(s), but will not be held responsible for further injury and/or death resulting from absence of emergency care. I agree to reimburse JLHPS for all incurred expenses within 24 hours of my return, to include transportation, supplies, and/or veterinary visits.
